American-Palestinian Teenager Released Following 270 Days in Israel's Imprisonment

A Palestinian-American youth after completing nine months in Israeli detention without being charged was released.

Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 during his detention this past winter within the occupied West Bank, during a family visit on holiday from Florida accused of stone-throwing toward Israeli settlers, which he previously denied.

The US state department applauded the teenager's freedom.

Currently aged sixteen, was taken to hospital upon gaining freedom, family members reported.

According to them, he appears showing signs of malnutrition, and experiencing medical problems developed during imprisonment.

Through an official statement, family spokesperson spoke of the family's "tremendous relief".

Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"Right now, we are focused on getting Mohammed prompt healthcare necessary for his recovery after being subjected to mistreatment by authorities and inhumane conditions over several months."

US officials stated they would maintain to offer diplomatic assistance to Mohammed's family.

{"American leadership has no higher priority to the protection and welfare of US citizens"," officials stated.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers endorsed a document to diplomatic officials and the administration, requesting additional efforts for his freedom.

Mohammed's parent, with four children operating an ice cream shop based in Tampa, previously said his child admitted guilt regarding stone throwing because the soldiers beat him.

The father hadn't visited nor direct contact since February, and only heard regarding the treatment via legal paperwork.

He stayed absent formal charges at Ofer detention facility on the West Bank.

Additionally housing mature inmates, some of whom have been convicted of serious terrorism offences and homicide.

An estimated several hundred young Palestinian detainees currently imprisoned in Israel, per correctional service statistics.

Several lack formal charges along with monitoring agencies, including UN bodies, say some have suffered mistreatment and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, the uncle stated relatives would persist in advocating for justice for his cousin family member Sayfollah.

This young American-Palestinian according to health authorities was beaten to death by radical settlers during a confrontation during summer.

At the time, defense forces stated officials were investigating reports a Palestinian civilian had been killed.

Mohammed and Sayfollah were employed together within the family's frozen treats establishment based in Florida.

No indictments occurred for the cousin's murder.

"We demand the American government to protect our families," Mr Kadur said.
