Barcelona to Host Historic Match at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
The club confirmed their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou this Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in La Liga two and a half years following their departure for construction to commence.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees can be present based on approved permits. After final construction, the Camp Nou is due to hold almost 105,000 spectators, up from the previous 99,000. Barça announced finished work included a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.
Stadium Testing
The club conducted an open training session inside the stadium on 7 November. Officials stated approval is being pursued from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side next month at Camp Nou. Previous fixtures took place at Estadio OlĂmpic LluĂs Companys.
