Edwards along with O'Neil represent the initial names under consideration to succeed the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend after the team's 10-match without a victory start to the top-flight season.

And both candidates - both of who have previous links to the club - are part of the names to be considered by the Wolves leadership.

The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a possible obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the club board as they start the search of hiring a new manager.

O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a shock choice given he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham United player is out of work meaning the club would not need to provide any compensation.
