Both have been linked with the coaching position at the Premiership title holders following the former manager's departure on Monday.

The Manager's Position on Celtic

McKenna described the Glasgow giants as "an enormous soccer institution" but stressed he is "in the middle" of a "long-term project" with Ipswich Town.

The 39-year-old assumed control of Portman Road in 2021 and led them to the English top flight with back-to-back promotions, but they won just a handful of victories last campaign as they were relegated back to the second division and they currently sit twelfth place in England's second tier.

"I have not had such discussions," the English capital native ex- Northern Ireland young player said when questioned about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"It's not something I have given any thought to, or where any part of my concentration is currently.

"I possess a special job here at a remarkable team. And we're at a crucial stage of the campaign. Anything external hasn't touched my awareness."

Context and Contractual Aspects

Reports indicate that McKenna would be willing to talk to the Scottish side given his boyhood allegiances.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when questioned about these. "I don't think everyone has to publicly and declare what they used to be, but naturally it's a massive sports organization."

McKenna agreed to a new multi-year deal in 2024 and was questioned about his alleged £5m release clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are things," he replied. "I'm unaware what mine are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you regardless!

"I approach this role like I'll be Town's coach forever. I understand that's not invariably going to be the situation, but I will consistently give maximum effort as long as I remain in position."

Bellamy's Situation

The former striker played for the Hoops on temporary transfer from Newcastle United in the mid-2000s, but the former Wales striker is minded to complete the ongoing global tournament campaign, a position that would effectively rule out the 46-year-old from assuming the Glasgow position.

Wales are presently third in their qualifying group behind leaders the Red Devils and runners-up North Macedonia.

Wins over the minnows and their rivals in next month would secure their place in the final qualifying round, but they are virtually assured of making those, thanks to a successful European competition performance, even if they not finish as Group J runners-up.

Considering his current stance, the Wales manager, whose contract concludes after the European Championship, would not be available until following the qualifying matches at the minimum.
