The Reform UK leader Claims Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “harming young minds” by telling children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I expect a walkout by educators very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.
“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”
In response to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union rejected the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.
“Farage has built his public life on coded rhetoric and now, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a fight,” Kebede stated.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”
The party, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.
Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks suggested the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with schooling – truly monumental. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”
He stated that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Paying tribute to a conservative activist, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind rather than current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.
Farage has accused the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has about 450,000 members.
Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and extensive missed instruction for students.
During the American gathering, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He said organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I am serious. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to your online courses. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”
The college, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for free to all who wish to learn.”
